Today we want to write about giving up and thinking there is no chance your car will start up. Few days ago we have been called by a lovely couple who recently bought a Renault Megane. Since they were not wealthy, they had to settle for a 2005 Renault Megan II which has seen better days… The first and urgent thing the car required was a new Renault key card. They called us and arranged a date to have a replacement Renault key card done for them. The lady said that her partner tried to fix the car by himself as he was convinced that the card reader was faulty, not the key card…. Well he shouldn’t have done it and soon you will find out why. Let me just say that in the end her partner ended up with few stiches and an awful pain.
When we arrived at their address and opened the cars’ door we couldn’t believe our eyes. The middle panel was in pieces, the cables from the heater, radio and card reader were dangling sadly as if the inside of the car had a surgery done by Jack The Reaper. Initially I hadn’t noticed the cables responsible for the card reader as they were tucked behind the radio and I tried to put the new Renault key card into the card reader slot. Imagine my surprise when I heard the new Renault key card falling inside the middle panel… It took a while to recover the key card and some investigation from my end to find the inner slot and the cables connected to it. Few minutes later….job done! The car was alive again. The couple were very happy as they couldn’t afford another car and having a key card replacement was the highlight of their day. Here at Key Card Services we always try and do our best to help our customers. Even when a situation seems unwinnable and possibly dangerous, we still try, as we know how important it is to have your car where it should be – on the road and getting you from point A to point B.
On the side note, if your car is showing “card not detected” message on the dashboard, it really means that your Renault key card is faulty. It doesn’t mean that the battery in the Renault key card is dead or that the card reader is faulty, all it means is that you need Renault key card replacement. If you don’t know what you are doing, don’t take the middle panel apart as you can damage your car and cause more problems and higher cost than just the cost of a Renault key card replacement. If you are not sure if you need a new Renault key card, call us and we will be more than happy to explain what is happening with your car, diagnose the problem and recommend the best course of action.
Have a look at the pictures below and you will know why we don’t recommend “fixing” your key card reader or your Renault key card on your own. Renault key card is very fragile, dropping it on the floor can damage the coil inside, so you can imagine what taking it apart can do to the matrix of your Renault key card. If you don’t know what you are doing, don’t do it, especially taking into consideration the fact that Renault key cards were not designed to be taken apart. If your key card stops working, if it doesn’t start your car up, it means you need a replacement key card, we offer bran new and genuine Renault key cards with 12 months warranty at very competitive prices. To be honest we are the cheapest in UK when it comes to Renault key card replacement. Not to brag but we get enquires from Birmingham, Plymouth, London and even Scotland. Why? Because we understand your needs, your budget and we strive to be the best at what we do.
