Returning Customers
Today blog entry I decided to dedicate to one of our returning customers. For obvious reasons I instead of using his real name I will refer to him as Tom. Tom was one of our first customers, he contacted us in December 2016 just before Christmas asking for a replacement key card for his 2005 Renault Espace as he lost his only key card. We got the job done quickly and he was over the moon as he had to go to work at 3am and his car was the only way of making that happen.
Around 6 months later we have received another call from Tom asking for our assistance, it turned out that he lost the key card we have supplied to him in December while on a trip to Bournemouth. The car was parked in Bristol Meads train station and was locked. Tom was travelling back to Bristol by train with his family. He told us what was the train arrival time so we could meet him by his car. We arrived a bit early and let him know that we were waiting for him. He told us to start the work as he was literally five minutes away. The funny thing about it was that his Renault Espace was parked on a secure car park, we had to unlock his car through the emergency lock and to a passer by we could easily look like we were trying to steal the car. Many people passed us by, including the car park guard and no one bothered to ask what we were doing. When Tom arrived his car was unlocked and we have programmed a new key card for him. Again he was very happy with our service and told us that they have found the lost key card when clearing Christmas decorations. His five year old son thought the key card would make a nice addition to the Christmas tree decorations and hung it on the tree. As you know Renault Laguna key card and Renault Espace key card have a little rectangle hole in them which fitted perfectly to one of the branches of their Christmas Tree. Unfortunately Tom hadn’t had the card with him, but we offered to visit him next time when we will be in Bristol and reprogram the card free of charge. Again we went our separate ways and a week later Tom called us again…
This time it wasn’t the key card issue but the key card reader. Tom works for national rail so his car was again at the Bristol Meads train station, we have been there so many times now that we didn’t need the sat nav. When we arrived there we have conducted diagnostics which confirmed that the key card reader developed a fault. Fortunately we do offer key card reader replacement service and we had in stock key card reader that fitted his Renault Espace. We exchanged the reader quickly and in the mean time Tom had made his wife to bring the two key cards they lost and found so we could program them to his car. Yes! Tom found the second lost key card, he left it in a restaurant in Bournemouth and the staff kept it for him. His wife arrived shortly after we finished exchanging the key card reader and we programmed all of the key cards for them. When we said our goodbyes Tom was left with a new key card reader and three key card for his Renault Espace, so we were sure we won’t hear from him again…
However six months later Tom contacted us again, I couldn’t believe it when I realised I was talking to him. It turned out that his 2005 Renault Espace developed few faults and he decided to scrap it and get another car, he bought a 2009 Renault Espace… we think he is a true fan of this model. The day after his car was taken away to the scrap yard his new car developed a key card reader fault. Knowing the entire story of his perturbance with the previous Espace I couldn’t believe that it was happening again. We arrived at his home address and started the work. Unfortunately the model he bought is a very complicated model to exchange the key card reader and it took us almost ninety minutes to disassemble the central panel, exchange the card reader and reassemble the panel again. The only key card Tom was given when purchasing the car was falling apart and in our opinion it was the key card that damaged the card reader, therefore Tom decided to purchase one more key card from us, when we were leaving Tom said ‘See you in 6 month guys!’ This sentence made us laugh so much and appreciate his positive spirit and sense of humour which is something that we all should have. This article has been dedicated to you ‘Tom’ and as much as we like you, we do hope you will not have to call us again.
