Renault Megane Key Card Not Detected – Problem Solved!
Today I would like to tell you a story about one of our call outs to Swansea. A lovely lady called us in the evening asking if we could come over and programme a new key card for her 2004 Renault Megane. We agreed on the time and price and off I went. The drive was rather pleasant as there was not much traffic, I arrived to the place and started working on her car. After few seconds the lady had to go back to her home as her dog was barking like crazy and she wanted to check if everything was ok.
I was left alone on her drive and continued my work until I’ve heard voice shouting: Police, Stop what you are doing! Honestly? I thought I would pee my pants. I did tried to explained that I’m here to do a replacement Renault Megane key card but they were not listening. I was told to put my hands on the roof of the car and I was searched! At this point the car owner jumped out from her house and tried to explain to the police that it was her car and that I was just doing a new Renault Megane key card. The police was not interested in explanations, they have separated us and started questioning, checking our documents etc. Oh, I have forgotten to add that by that time I had my hands in handcuffs and was told that I may be arrested… Seriously that wasn’t something that I was planning for that Friday night…
After lengthy questioning they finally believed us and allowed me to finish my work. I was so shaken up that I could barely programme the new Renault Megane key card. In the meantime tons of police officers showed up from nowhere and went to a house that was next to my client’s house. Later on it turned out that the people who lived next door to her were stealing cars and selling their parts online. So naturally when police saw me with my key card programming equipment they assumed I was trying to steal the car. I don’t blame them, late and dark evening, not the best neighbourhood and someone with laptop, cables and other tools doing something with a car from the inside. Luckily they were nice enough to let me show them my website and badge and the car owner had all documents to prove that the car was hers. I had never been so scared in my life.
Someone could probably think that our job is boring, driving for hours, programming the key cards and back on the road. Nothing further from the truth, every single job brings something interesting. Either the ways of how the owners try to bypass the key card fault, or inventions they make to make it work or just situations like this one. However if that would be possible I would prefer not to have any more experiences like that…
Just to remind you again, if your key card stops working or gets damaged make sure that you have all documents with you, as you can always be asked for it and get into trouble if you don’t have it when we are programming a new Renault key card. You will save us and yourself a lot of hassle and a possible arrest haha.
I think they I will restrain myself from saying that when it comes to programming Renault key cards I have seen it all, because whenever I say that life throws something new at me. It frightens me to think what could be next in line. Thank you for reading and hope to see you soon if you will ever need a replacement key card for your Renault.
