Expanding the Business
Having started the business few years ago we were only dealing with Renault key cards. Hence the name of the business haha. Over the years we have realised that more and more customers were asking for key cutting and programming for other car makes, like Mercedes, Ford, Vauxhall, Peugeot, Fiat or Citroen. Obviously, we were losing a lot of business and disappointing a lot of customers.
It took us a while to plan, learn, order remote keys and machines that would allow us to expand our business, but it was so worth it. The response from the customers was amazing and many of our clients upon finding out that we are now able to cut and programme keys for other makes than Renault started to recommend us to their friends and neighbours, so much so we were overwhelmed with the number of bookings.
One of our biggest jobs was programming spare sets of keys to a number of vans used by one delivery company. It was a huge task and again required some planning ahead as with the nature of distribution business it was difficult to have all of the vans in the same depot free for us to work on. In the end we arranged a booking for Sunday as it seemed like the only sensible solution.
To make the operation smooth and time efficient, we decide to send a team of two and let me tell, we had some fun in the depot. For me it was like a trip to Disneyland – all those vans, keys and me having access to them to play with. When I say play with. I mean the programming process, connecting to their on-board systems etc, yes this is my definition of having fun… My wife thinks I am nuts, but we all have our quirks, don’t we?
On that one Sunday we have programmed 2 keys for Citroen Relay van, spare set of keys for Mercedes Vito, 3 sets of replacement keys for Peugeot Boxer, spare key for Citroen Dispatch and another 2 sets of spare keys for Ford Transit. I have to admit, this was the best day in my entire auto locksmith career.
Customer was overjoyed with the end results and the price, left us a fantastic review on Trust Pilot and promised to recommend us to his associates. So far, we have received 7 bookings just from his recommendations. Looking back at how nervous and unsure we were when deciding to expand our business and offer replacement car keys, all I can say is that this was the best decision we could have ever taken.
